Great for a short city break

Posted by kaycoops 13 June 2012

If you are looking for a Spanish holiday away from the main tourist spots, then I can't recommend Valladolid more. It is an old and beautiful city in the north of the country. The city has a rich history with many museums and sculptures to look at. When I visited in June I was lucky enough to experience the sand scultpure festival in the Plaza Mayor (main square). When you get tired from walking around the winding streets, there are plenty of traditional restaurants and bars where you can sip a beer/cocktail and watch the world go by. Almost every bar will also give you some complimentary tapas with a drink order too. The area is very famous for it's pastries, so be sure to check out a bakery or three!
