Las Cies island

Posted by ECVitoria 12 July 2007

The stunning Las Islas Cies in Galicia is an uninhabited and pristine national park with loads of wildlife and a perfect crescent of soft pale sand, backed by small dunes sheltering a calm lagoon of crystal-clear (but freezing) sea.

The water is turquoise and the sand fine and white.

The only place to stay on the island is an idyllic campsite shaded by pine trees. It has a decent shop, bar and cafe and, this being Spain, even a proper restaurant that serves great seafood.

The park is open to the public only in summer.

Playa de Rodas

Posted by mofli 31 May 2007

Actually, I have been in this beach, and I can say it is really amazing. It is very beautiful and you can only enjoy it during the summer. The boat trip to this beach is also nice.

There is a restaurant where you can taste the quality typical seafood and fishes of this region. If you come here, bring your suncream with you because the sun is too high.

Camp in Spain is Fun

Posted by mofli 14 May 2007

In the south of the province of Pontevedra, you can find the best three campsites in this region.

These campsites have all the facilities needed for camping and they are getting more and more confortable. They are located near to the beach and near to the most touristic villages of Galicia.

Among the facilities of these campsites you can find: health care, hot water showers, supermarket, restaurant, laundry, post office, swimming pool, sport facilities and others.

They are the following:

Camping Bayona Playa - Bungalow Park. It is located in the touristic village of Baiona, a wonderful place to enjoy holidays with wonderful landscapes of the Ría de Vigo and islands such as the Cíes Islands.

Camping Playa América. It is located in the municipality of Nigrán and very close to Vigo.

Camping Santa Tecla. This one is the furthest camping from the cities of Vigo and Pontevedra. However, it is very close to Portugal. It is located in the municipality of A Guarda, where you can visit the Mount Santa Tegra with its old archaeological site of the Celtic civilizations. It has a privileged location in the Ría de Vigo, in the estuary of the River Miño. It is an amazing landscape nobody should miss and even has a disco.

Paradise islands

Posted by mofli 4 April 2007

All along the Rías Baixas we can find many small islands and others bigger. Some of them are of private property and others are open to the public.

Two of the most known small islands are Tambo in the Ría de Pontevedra and San Simon in the Ría de Vigo. The probem of these islands is that the tourist cannot have access to them - but you can enjoy its landscape in the middle of the ría (estuaries).

Among the biggest islands, you can find Islas Cíes in the mouth of the Ría de Vigo, and Isla de Ons in the mouth of the Ría de Pontevedra.

These two beaches are wonderful and they have free access, you have to pay only the ship. There are ships which depart to these beaches throughout the summer and during the Easter; there are also different schedules.

Everybody who visits can enjoy the white fine sand, the blue and clear water of the sea, the sun, the forests, the seafood restaurants and so on. Spending days here is to relax and to have peace and quiet. You only hear the sound of the tides and the birds singing.

If you want to spend nights here you need to camp because there are no hotels.

It is so wonderful you should have once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit it.
