An underrated snowboarding gem

Davos in Eastern Switzerland is one of the best and most underrated snowboarding resorts in Europe. It has a reputation in the UK as an exclusive resort for the super rich which completely misses its appeal across Europe as a mecca for snowboarding. The resort is split into four main areas: Parsenn (the biggest), Jakobshorn (the liveliest), Rinerhorn (small but excellent for quiet slopes and great off-piste after a fresh snowfall) and Pischa (also small but quieter slopes at the weekend and good for sun worshippers). Each of these are easily good enough for a full day's boarding and Parsenn/Gotschna is bigger than most resorts on its own.
Davos is not a good place for beginners as it has the steepest nursery slope I've ever seen and the only runs back into the resort are blacks. On the other hand, for intermediate and advanced boarders, it has some of the longest and most varied skiing and snowboarding terrain in Switzerland; wide open cruising trails that go on forever (one 12km-long beauty from the top of the Weissfluhjoch down to Klosters), steep narrow chutes and gullies, open powder fields, forests, natural jumps and drops, well maintained half pipes and terrain parks and reliable snow conditions.
