    Medical advice

Most medicines (including antibiotics) can be bought over the counter without prescription and are cheap. A pharmacist will give you what he considers right for your symptoms but you get just as easily see a doctor at a local clinic for a couple of hundred baht. They usually speak a little English. Hospitals are usually pretty good but beware of the more expensive ones giving you unnecessary treatment when they find out you have insurance. There are very few proper ambulances in Thailand. If you do require one the chances are you’ll be chucked in the back of a “rescue” pickup truck by scantly trained staff.
