Lycian leave
This town on the Mediterranean coast is about an hour or so from Dalaman Airport. It is well geared up for tourists but is also a fishing port and a market town, so it's possible to get a real sense of how local people live. Also, Turkish people take holidays there too. It has a relaxed feel and there are lots of things to do, both on land and water. It's also located in a very historic area and was originally an important town during the Lycian era (from 500 BC to 900 AD). The sites at Xanthos, Letoon and Patara are accessible from Fethiye.
