The future's orange

The capital city of Ukraine was the third-largest city of the former USSR after Moscow and St Petersburg. Founded in the fith century, the city is steeped in the history of the Russian peoples, the most recent contribution being the Orange Revolution, which saw its streets filled with demonstrators against the last vestiges of a Communist-style election.
Situated on the banks of the Dneiper river, it is home to a range of startlingly beautiful golden-domed churches which contrast sharply with the Soviet-style tower blocks on the opposite side of the river. Most of the locals deny all knowledge of the world-famous dish, Chicken Kiev.
