Port of call
On the Ukraine’s south coast, Odessa is the cosmopolitan port that to many of the ex-Soviet people means sun, sand and the Black Sea. It’s a big city too, with many attractive, tree-lined streets, flanked by buildings often influenced by French or Italian architecture.

The Potemkin steps and the Opera House are probably the two main attractions for foreign tourists, yet the lively and bustling port atmosphere is enjoyable and infectious, the weather’s almost Mediterranean and there are expanses of natural wetlands within reach for nature lovers.
