Recent tips about Anglesey

Pen Y Cefn is a brilliant guest house in the historic town of Amlwch on the north coast of Anglesey. We visited as a family and had a brilliant time. The entire house is spotlessly clean and when you come back from a day exploring you can tell everything has been aired out, it's got that lovely smell. The rooms are beautiful, decorated with Laura Ashley (don't see that in a guest house very often), with sparkling bathrooms. The hosts - Jenny and Colin - are absolutely fabulous. They are truly lovely, and always happy to help. Oh, and the crux of any B&B - the second B - BREAKFAST. Colin's breakfast is cracking. He makes exactly what you want, the attention to detail is astounding. Even the butter comes in little curls! It's five star luxury for a two star price tag - a real treat.

Pen Y Cefn B&B, Salem Street, Amlwch, Anglesey, North Wales, LL68 9DD.

Superb location - plus riding on a beautiful beach! Caters for all abilities including children. Good local accommodation, history and legends, good local pubs in the area where you can enjoy fueling up for the next day!

A superb family beach - also access for boat trips to Puffin Island and a riding school in Llanddona village that offers the roamnce and exhilaration of horse riding on the beach!

Also wonderful for sailing and fishing - and this is just one of many excellent beaches/cosatal areas on the island!

Newborough Warren

Posted by Accaber 29 May 2007

Newborough Warren is a nature reserve near the village of Newborough, on Anglesey, and includes two beaches: Maltraeth Bay and Llanddwyn Bay, separated by Llanddwyn Island. The beaches are a walk away from the car park, but are absolutely beautiful clear stretches of sand, backed by dunes, and with views to Snowdonia. A walk to the lighthouse and cross on Llanddwyn Island is rewarding, and there are smaller beaches here: a wonderful find.
