    Bistro Betws-y-Coed

    Posted by stevens1974 10 August 2009

The eating in Betws-y-Coed can be a bit average (mixed grill or curry with half rice/half chips). Which is why we found the Bistro a real bonus. Nice place with a great menu, just make sure you book ahead. Wales is famous for its sheep - this place should be famous for its lamb. Mouth watering stuff. Enjoy.

    Gateway village to Snowdonia

Posted by CNICHT 22 February 2009

Very picturesque village at the confluence of two rivers. We stayed at an excellent good value four star B&B called Mairlys. We googled them from friends who stayed five weeks ago. Breakfast wassuperb. Spent Saturday climbing Snowdon via the Miners track. Leave your car at Penygwryd and walk to the YHA where the walk starts.
Five miles through fabulous terrain to the summit - icy, cold and clear. we could even see the Wicklow hills in Ireland, Dined that night at Bryn Tyrch Inn at Capel Curig where there was a male choir in residence. Great food and really good atmosphere. A mere two hours from Manchester but what a fabulous weekend.

    16 Miles south of Conwy.

    Three pubs in village.

    The Lion Inn

Posted by Hilbilly 27 September 2007

Country inn offering comfortable accommodation and good food. The Inn has been refurbished in the last couple of years to provide five clean and comfortable rooms above a traditional bar and modern restaurant.

The food was very good, made from local produce and good value. Located in a small very quiet village close to Betws-y-Coed and within easy reach of Snowdonia and north coast.
Well worth the effort to seek out.

    The Lion Inn, Gwytherin

Posted by pottig 10 March 2007

The Lion Inn is tucked away in a small village in North Wales. It's a small country pub, recently refurbished, with rooms and a restaurant. It's an incredibly relaxing place to stay. The rooms are tastefully decorated and very comfortable. There's a DVD player but no TV reception so make sure you bring a film that suits your mood! We woke up on Saturday morning to total peace and tranquility. All the food is locally sourced, well prepared and presented. The bar has a roaring open fire and a good selection of beers. Very friendly dogs live in the farm over the road. Well placed for walking, climbing or mountain biking around Betws-y-coed. Reasonably priced. We'd definitely return.
