The Georgian Rooms are very special. On the well preserved high street of the old town in Bridlington, they are a treasure trove of fascinating pieces, mostly antiques, some vintage clothing, garden ironmongery, furniture, photographs and to cap it all, a wonderful tea room on the ground floor, serving home made cakes and lunches. The owner collects items from far and wide and has a keen interest in the unusual. We picked up some Frank Meadow Sutcliffe photographs, reasonably priced and were very tempted by a gorgeous velvet purse for one sovereign and one half sovereign - crockery, glass and cutlery are kept in delightful old cases. The garden has several rooms and sheds with interesting outdoor objects, wooden restored furniture and follies. A real treat.

Beautiful camping spots overlooking the Blue Flag beach, Wold Farm and Southcliff Caravan Park. Details can be found at www.beachcampsitesuk.co.uk under the 'Yorkshire' section. Close by is the wonderful Ship Inn, an eighteenth century coaching inn that serves great food and heart-warming ales, situated in the heart of Flamborough village, just a short walk away from the dramatic cliffs and sandy beaches of Flamborough Head.
About Bridlington is a brilliant web site giving up-to-the-minute information on Bridlington, from tide times to accommodation. It also lists daily events in and around Bridlington.
The smooth southern curve of Bridlington Bay and the glistening white cliffs of Flamborough Head to the north provide the perfect backdrop to a clean and sandy beach which is sheltered by chilly northern winds. It has recently won a Blue Flag for its cleaniness.
Bridlington has frequent train connections to Hull, Scarborough and Filey from its own mainline train station. Buses also connect it with Hull and Scarborough.
The best fish and ship shop in the universe - massive portions, excellent meaty, tasty fish (the quality never varies) and the lowest prices ever! All topped off with good-humoured Yorkshire service. I have fond memories of having fish and chips from Jack's at my Grandma's house every Saturday lunchtime when I was a kid; I now live in London and Jack's has become almost totemic for me - it represents everything that's great about Yorkshire for me! I have fish and chips from Jack's every time i go home and, amazingly, it hasn't changed at all - the same family is running it, the food's just as good and they're still charging £2.50!
On Hilderthorpe Road, just round the corner from the bus/train station.
