Welcome Beach

Posted by detitomount 23 May 2011

Welcome Beach on the Cornish and north Devon border. Hidden away from the crowds it has some of the best body boarding in the area, with incredible crashing waves. The beach is hidden at high tide and looks like it's just rocks, but at low tide the sea goes back and there is acres of beautiful sand and the body boarding is second to now. There is a lovely waterfall to wash under once you've had enough of the sea salt!

Millook Haven

Posted by dyfed 14 March 2008

An isolated and atmospheric pebble beach with one of the most geologically impressive cliffs in the world. Lovely on a sunny day; awesome when it's stormy. Walk to the far end for total peace and quiet (but don't get cut off) then head to Crackington for lunch.

On the singletrack road between Widemouth Bay and Crackington Haven. From the viewpoint south of Widemouth Bay drive down 30% incline to the valley bottom where there is space for a few cars.

Bude is a beautiful part of Cornwall and the Falcon Hotel is one of the friendliest places to stay. It's right next to the canal (which offers great opportunites for those interested in fishing) and has great views. The rates are really reasonable so it's good for families. Enjoy a cold beer from the lively bar and let the kids explore the beautiful walled gardens.
