Glendurgan Gardens

Posted by ondrak 19 May 2012

Glendurgan gardens is a National Trust managed Garden estate tucked way in a glorious green valley SW of falmouth. A perfect day out for families with children as there is a laurel maze hidden in the depths of the garden, the sheer brightness of the greens reminded me of a trip to the north of Sri Lanka. There are tropical plants, palms, streams and bridges and viewing points and resting points a plenty. Descending through the garden you join a small shingle beach which is gently lapped by the Helford Estuary- perfect for skimming stones while eating a clotted cream ice cream

Arthur's Field

Posted by rosefamily 7 June 2011

Hidden in the most beautiful part of Cornwall near St Mawes is a campsite with a difference. Really you don't want to tell anyone because it is magic. We have just spent half term in our campervan there. Wednesday night was fireside with poets, storytellers and songs. Many children got up and sang, told poems and jokes - even as young as three! To cap it all we had toasted marshmallows! Each morning the bell rings and out run the children to feed the animals, with owner Debbie. My children found soulmates and friends, climbed trees and hung out or just played swingball all with a sea view. You can't get better than that! In the summer artists and poets visit and run workshops. We are going back - it feels like home!

The Bude Canal, Cornwall

Posted by rachbrown 3 May 2010

Head south to Cornwall to find a real gem of a canal walk. Bude Canal is different from other canals. Lobster pots are strewn across the bank, seagulls fly overhead, and the Atlantic salt gets deep in your lungs. Wander on a sunny day towards Summerleaze beach, as you head through lock gates onto the golden Cornish sands. The canal is a secret haven from the crowds, with a sea view! Ice creams on the beach finish this perfect summer stroll.

It's hard to find high quality accommodation in a stunning location, but Spinneywood has it all. Panoramic coastal views, a beautifully furnished and well-equipped property and an acre of private garden all to ourselves. We had a lovely holiday. I only wish we'd been able to stay for longer.
