Recent tips about Hull

Hitchcock's is a former brothel and situated in the historic old town of Hull.
When you visit Hitchcock's you are treated to something likened to a surrealist mystery tour.
The interior rambles it's way in a confusion of rooms situated on several levels creating natural havens and hideaways where couples or groups of friends can gather together to savour not only the delicious vegetarian and vegan cuisine that's on offer, but also the atmosphere created by a mixture of eclectic and eccentric styles mixed in with a quirky collection of thrift store curiosities.
The menu for the evening is chosen by the first person to book for that particular night. And they can choose menus based on the cuisine from a particular country. The food is absolutely delicious, especially the desserts, and as it's a buffet you can eat as much as you want!
It's certainly the best vegetarian restaurant I've ever been too by far!

Pubs-wise, the Wellington Inn, Spring Bank Tavern, Black Boy, Ye Olde White Hart and Walters are all good for their real ale and atmospheres. Tourist-wise, The Deep is excellent and a walk around the old town area and museums is worth doing. The Ferens art gallery is pretty good and often has decent visiting exhibitions on. Food-wise the city centre is bit rubbish, but pizzas made by the crazy Italian bloke in the Trinity Market are cheap and filling.

Nearest station is Hull Interchange for buses and trains. The tourist website www.realyorkshire.co.uk has got a decent selection of ideas

Great restaurant, great food, good selection, excellent service, ice-cold draught Cobra (and bottled King Cobra), very good fixed price menu with good selection midweek. Book on Fridays and Saturdays.

I've tried them all locally and this is the best.

Fab veggie all you can eat buffet. Friendly staff, amazing food and great ambience. They have a novel means of ensuring the menu is always fresh and exciting - the first group to book a table get to pick the food for the evening. Hitchcocks has been a favourite haunt of ours for many years, and I've eaten everything from Nepali to Italian, Sri Lankan to Mexican - all delicious. And the deserts are to die for...
