    Fidden Farm campsite

Posted by Ashyards 1 June 2011

Fidden Farm Campsite sits right at the end of the Ross of Mull near Fionnphort. The beach is white and fine-grained and the water is crystal-clear. The views across to Iona are beautiful. You could sit outside your tent looking out across the bay (possibly watching seals if you are lucky) forever ...

    Lip na Cloiche garden

Posted by mrraph 16 May 2011

A truly fabulous garden; crafted into the hillside overlooking Loch Tuath on Mull.
No admission is charged, although the owner gratefully accepts donations, and she will happily answer questions if you are able to corner her as she traverses the slopes, seemingly completing a multitude of tasks all at the same time!
The plant-life showcases the immense variety that can be grown in this temperate, Gulf-stream fed climate, and a plethora of odds and sods are to be found dotted among the plants: anchors, ploughs, cog wheels and other gently rusting adornments. The paths are lovingly crafted in mosaic patterns; bricks and pebbles set in beautiful patterns, and a few chickens peer back at you through the (hopefully) mink-proof wires.
Visit this lovely garden during early evening, and the setting sun dapples through the leaves; the blossom and flowers glowing gently. However, I am also certain that visiting on one of Mull’s more common ‘grey’ days, the garden will remain resplendent in glorious shades and textures.
(There is also holiday accommodation in the form of a B&B conveniently located in the garden)

Two summers ago I went with my partner to the Isle of Mull in Scotland
for our summer holiday. We camped on a wildly beautiful beach for a
week (I feel guilty to say where - to spoil the secret - but there are
plenty to choose from) and then we treated ourselves to two nights in
a little luxurious hotel. There are also loads of beautiful bed and
breakfasts and little hotels and we have never eaten so well in our
lives - always fresh local produce, lots of fish and home grown
    vegetables.

We had such an amazing time that last Summer we decided to
go to Scotland again - this time to the Isle of Skye and then across
to Harris. Again I feel guilty to tell the secrets of this place but
the beaches on Harris in particular are mindblowingly beautiful. When
we show people our holiday pictures, they don't believe it is Scotland
    - white white sand beach - all to ourselves, with turquoise blue sea
and the most serene mountain backdrop.

We had two days of horrible
rain but the rest of the time it was blazing sun- we both came home
with deep tans after 10 days. On the 2 days that it rained we went sea
    kayaking.

    Calgary House Hotel

Posted by merylb 11 March 2009

I fell in love with this place for the beach, the food, the hospitality and the location.

Calgary Hotel is 300m up the road from the beautiful white sands of Calgary Beach, in a small green valley banked with mature deciduous woodland. The hotel has been converted from farm steadings but still retains the friendly farmhouse atmosphere and character, while creating comfortable and attractive accommodation.

The owners are artists and put on fabulous exhitibitions by local crafts people.

Finally, the food is to die for - local produce cooked to perfection.
