    The Brackley Antiques Cellar

Posted by BestofBritish 21 September 2010

After spending an afternoon in the pretty town of Brackley, we wandered down towards The Brackley Antiques Cellar. The showroom was packed with a fantastic range of antiques from furniture to collectable masks and pottery. We happily spent a good hour in the showroom and could have easily spent thousands; luckily I restrained myself and walked away with only a collection of kitsch mugs!

    Dangs Vietnamese Restaurant

Posted by Forbesy 12 September 2010

I would have never gone to a Vietnamese restaurant if a colleague hadn’t raved about Dangs on the Wellingborough Road in Northampton. As soon as we walked into the restaurant the welcome was fantastic; the staff were efficient and courteous and were happy to recommend or explain the dishes on the menu. We opted for three different dishes; duck, chicken and cod. I can honestly say the fish dish was the best tasting eastern food I have ever tasted - a huge achievement considering I am a self-confessed fish-o-phobe! The total bill was very reasonable, and the restaurant had a great selection of wine. I would definitely recommend Dangs for any occasion!

    78 Derngate - Mackintosh House

Posted by TripNel 8 September 2010

While in Northampton town centre, I visited 78 Derngate, the Mackintosh House, designed for businessman Joseph Bassett-Lowke by Scottish architect and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The interior didn’t disappoint with unique decoration and contrasting designs throughout – it gave me a lot of inspiration for my own home! The designs were revolutionary for the time they were created in 1916. A must see for art lovers and interior fanatics! The gift shop is a must on the way out where they sell jewellery and gifts from local artists and the café is also a perfect place to sit down, plan the next stop and enjoy a nice cup of tea.

    Whittlebury Hall

Posted by TripNel 8 September 2010

My partner and I recently visited Silverstone in Northamptonshire and found a fantastic place to stay, Whittlebury Hall. While he enjoyed being within a stone’s throw of the race track, the spa hotel, in its own private grounds, had a great choice of relaxing treatments on offer for me to enjoy. The spa also puts on a fantastic lunch for its guests, healthly but with a hint of indulgence! The luxurious accommodation was very comfortable and we both came left refreshed and rejuvenated.
