Family hiking in Cornwall
The only other picture we could find to illustrate 'UK family holidays' was four people stood in the rain in Eastbourne. It would be nice to think that this sunny image of a family hiking on the Lizard Peninsular in Cornwall was a bit nearer to the truth. From great hotels to city day trips and nature reserves, there are tips covering every aspect of the British isles for parents and children alike. But perhaps taking a brolly is a good idea.

Peebles is a market town in the Scottish Borders. Located approximately 25 miles south of Edinburgh it's a great place to visit for a leisurely day out.

Dander down the high street browsing the variety of shops and boutiques. Pop into the Tontine Hotel for a coffee or a bite of lunch. Walk by the river. Take your kids to the swing park or local swimming pool.

If you're feeling slightly more energetic put on your walking boots and take a walk up some of the surrounding hills ... or head to Glentress for a spot of mountain biking.

    Glentress Biking Forest, Peebles

Posted by MAXMM 6 February 2007

Do you ever feel that there is a lack of sport in your life and you don't like the "popular" sports such as tennis, or football? If so, don't give up there! Glentress forest, is full to the brim with mountain biking trails for the standard cyclist to the advanced mountain biker! Whatever your ability, there is something at Glentress for you. Mountain biking, is a growing sport, and here in Scotland, we have some of the best mountain biking trails in the world! If you don't belive me, look it up on the internet, it's a fact.

Based in Peebles, Glentress is part of the "Seven Stanes" trails that litter southern Scotland and northern England. Glentress is the most popular trail in the Seven Stanes trail - the reason being that there are over 30 trails there!
I have been going to Glentress for 3 years, I started going when I was 10, now I am 13, and heavily into mountain biking. The feeling you experience after your first trip to Glentress is unbelievable, you feel on top of the world, at one with nature and in touch with your soul all at once. Both my brothers, of 6 and 9 years old, enjoy Glentress as much as I do, and if a 6 year old boy can do it, anyone can.

Overall Glentress is a guaranteed fun day out, for a day trip, or a hardcore training session.
