    Littleriverside

A self-catering annexe apartment for two, within easy walking distance of the train. You can take a bike, hire a canoe, or visit the alternative and wacky town of Totnes where Riverford Farm foods originated. Everything is organic and green. Little riverside allows you to go for a wild swim in the river right outside the door! Hire a canoe and go shopping down the river or to the pub. Great cafes and pub grub.

Near the sea and near the moors - fantastic situation for everything. Great carbon-free getaway for two.

    The Bay Horse Inn

Posted by peakay 24 March 2008

If you're in Devon get into Totnes and enjoy the river Dart, Vire Island, the Town Museum, the Costume Museum in Bogan house. Then, if it's Friday or Saturday, you can enjoy the town market too. After that go on right up through the Narrows to the top of town and you'll find the Bay Horse Inn - lovely food, real beer, a warm atmosphere with a nice garden at the back - and local folk music on Tuesday nights, very good jazz evenings - at no extra charge! You can stay the night there too. A great place to be on your holiday!

The Bay Horse is in Cistern Street, by the Rotherfold, at the end of The Narrows, on your right going uphill.
Totnes station is on the main Paddington to Plymouth line. The whole town is within easy walking distance of the station.

    Totnes Christmas market

Posted by tompenny 24 March 2008

Totnes holds Christmas markets every Tuesday in December which are a major attraction for locals and tourists alike. Totnes itself is a lovely and crazy town on the river Dart which organises this fab market. Being a very creative town the stalls and shops range from individual quirky individual stall holders and just as individual shops. The whole experience is wonderful with shopping, live music, dance, fab food and drinks. Start off at the bottom of the hill any time after six and work your way up towards the castle, stopping for regular refreshment stops. It puts any other late night shopping to shame!

    Totnes, South Devon.

    The Kingsbridge Inn

Posted by sisi 30 December 2006

It is a pub, right at the top of the town. It has recently been taken over and is wonderful. The food is some of the best I have ever tasted, beautifully presented and delicious. I bet soon this is a place you will have to book a table for weeks in advance.

Why am I telling you this? Because it desevers it, it really is head and shoulders above any other pub I have eaten in.

Risotto, hot chocolate pudding, the yummiest chips, veg so fresh it's almost rude, on and on I could go. And not silly london prices either, lunch for under a tenner.

Brilliant, it can be done, go there soon. You won't regret it.

    Willow Vegetarian Garden Restaurant

Posted by DebbieC 21 September 2006

This great vegetarian restaurant has been running in Totnes for at least 20 years. It has a warm relaxed atmosphere with some communal tables. In the back, there is a pretty garden and a children's area. There is a great selection of organic, seasonal food, including a large variety of casseroles, quiches, soups and salads at lunch time. There's also wonderful choice of gâteaux, wheat-free munchies and yummy puddings, plus fair trade coffees, teas and a good variety of organic beers and wines. The Willow is open from 10am until 5pm and again in the evening. Wednesday night is curry night (very authentic) and Fridays is live music.
