Just don't drive
Atlanta is a fascinating town, but can be quite dangerous if you aren't careful. Treat it like any other big city and keep your eyes open and you'll be fine. The roads are amazingly fast, and the drivers, in contrast to the lovely southern politesse, are mean as snakes. The best thing is to get someone confident to drive. Bring a good camera - the night skyline in Atlanta is terrific.
