It's a chain but the seafood is so good it's unmissable.
High class French food near Harvard Square. A great place for a special meal that doesn't have to be expensive. The three-course prix fix neighbourhood menu is one of the best deals in Boston.

Probably the best ribs and barbecue in the Boston area with a rotating selection of local, regional and from further afield micro brews. Generally crowded with students, locals and tourists but worth the wait. Get a seat at the bar and watch the baseball, or ask for a seat at the counter where the kitchen staff feed you titbits while you wait for your dinner (don't forget to tip them!).

For a special night out while in Boston try this place. Old English style chop house, in a fine dining way (and price!). Make sure you book as it gets really busy. As does the bar, which is also a great spot for a drink apres shopping on Newbury Street.

Top of the Hub restaurant, on the 52nd floor of the Prudential building, is a great place to catch views of Boston. Dinners can get pricey but for lunch or dessert it is actually fairly reasonable. It's worth a few extra dollars for the views. Go during an off time so you are sure to snag a table next to the window.

Back Bay or Prudential T Stop
This area is full of very trendy restaurants and bars etc.
