Held in early December, it starts and ends at the Mandalay Bay Casino. This year (Dec 10) there were 16,000 marathoners and half-marathoners. Blue Man Group performed at the start and Cirque du Soleil at the finish. The first miles are north on Las Vegas Blvd. ("The Strip"). The course is flat and fast. Amateur performers -everything from gospel to rock 'n' roll to bagpipes- are along the whole route. The race is fun, fun ,fun and a superb visual and aural treat. I would say it's in the top five city marathons in the United States.
