When this hostel advertised how close to sandy South Beach they were, I must admit I was sceptical – but when I arrived I was soon corrected!

A mere block from the fun and sun of the beach resort, they are also ideally situated for the shops, restaurants and nightlife in the Art Deco district which attracts travelers from all over the world.

Dorm beds are surprisingly cheap considering all rooms have their own bathroom and staff are friendly and helpful.

There’s also a lot going on here…tours in the day, events at night and other travelers chilling out in the bar. So much so that you could enjoy Miami without even leaving the hostel.

Boutique four-star art deco hotel on Collins with iconic swimming pool and beachfront access. The rooms are furnished with a combination of modern touches - ipod sound docks, flat screen TV with cable, comfy bed – and deco-kitschy items. There are ocean/pool view rooms, but city/sunset are slightly cheaper with a great view. The pool is wonderful, staff very helpful and friendly and the food and cocktails are fantastic. It’s a really well situated hotel – close to Lincoln Av shops and restaurants and about a 5-10 minute walk down to the main Ocean Drive drag. And it’s not nearly as pretentious as some of its neighbours ...

One of those hostels is the South Beach hostel. It has a great location and a bar right in the hostel.
One of the very finest restaurants in Miami, in one of its swankiest hotels. Blue Door is expensive but if you can afford it, it's worth the money. If you're lucky you might find a movie star on the next table. Robert de Niro was chomping on a mushroom truffle when we there (if it wasn't him, the guy could make a fortune as a double).

The exquisitely designed Sagamore is situated in the heart of South Beach’s Art Deco district. Ultra-modern and ultra-chic, the hotel has 93 rooms: one- and two-bedroom suites, garden bungalows or rooftop penthouses. And if dining out becomes a chore, each room has its own kitchenette.

For those wishing to take in the sun, the oceanfront zero-entry infinity pool is the perfect place to lounge in style.

The Sagamore also boasts an impressive collection of contemporary art, spread throughout the complex. The hotel’s crisp white décor is the perfect background to showcase colourful and unusual pieces from the likes of Udo Neoger, Sterz Imrie, David Stoltz and Christine Borlands.

Service isn’t sacrificed for style, though. The friendly and helpful staff will cater to your every wish.
