United States
My visit to downtown Miami was brief, a short walk between the air terminal and the train terminal. I asked a couple of people to confirm I was going in the right direction and was met with blank stares until the penny dropped. I was asking them in English. As soon as I switched to Spanish, there was no problem. So if you decide to go, don't ditch that old Spanish-English phrase book. It'll come in handy.
Getting to and from Miami International Airport can be tricky, with traffic often at a standstill at peak hours. If you are travelling to or from the north or west, it is best to avoid the freeways and use US 27, which passes within a couple of hundred yards of the airport and quickly carries you out of the city. It also intersects with Interstate 75 north of Miami.
Pick it up just outside the airport, or when arriving in the Miami area on Interstate 75
