Like all NY hotels now, it's a bit expensive at between $300-500/night, but their website sometimes has discounts and good packages, and in many cases you can get breakfast with the room, not a standard feature here in the States. On the recommendation of a friend, we booked through an Irish site, newyorkapartments.ie, and we would all highly recommend it. We decided on a two-bed apartments in Mid Town East, which was close enough to all the designer labels we craved, but also just far enough from the hustle and bustle of Times Square to allow us to relax. The apartment was fantastic - really luxurious and, of course, spacious. Breakfast was available every morning and there was also a housekeeping service, which was great as we hadn't come all the way to New York to argue over who was to clean up! There was even a spa and aromotherapy centre - sheer bliss.

It is excellent value for money. We paid $200 per night for a one bedroom apartment which comfortably took our family of four. Friendly, helpful young staff and clean and comfortable accomodation.

Big Apple Greeter is a voluntary organisation which was set up to give visitors to NYC a personal insight into The Big Apple. A Greeter meets up at your hotel and you get a five or so hour WALKING tour of your chosen neighbourhood, and it is all FREE. You even get a subway pass for the day. We had a great time. Do we regret it? Well, yes and no. It's a bit sad and needs updating so if you are after a bit of luxury, it's not the place for you. Other than that, the staff are helpful and efficient and security is very tight. The rooms, although dated, were clean and tidy.

We were out of the hotel 12- 14 hours a day so even if it was all-singing, all-dancing we wouldn't have used such facilities. Cheap and cheerful sums it up. It was very busy with guests and we weren't aware of anyone making any complaints so I guess most people were of the same mindset that it was simply a bed for the night and nothing more. We've paid more for much worse accommodation and service in the UK and other countries.

It's a great location on 8th and 45th, with so much on its doorstep. I would expect if it gets an expensive makeover in the next couple of years then the room rates will go up accordingly. I had a private room with shared bathrooms which are kept clean. Rooms are warm and came with a TV, fridge, microwave and sink.

A stone's throw from central park and a couple of blocks from two different subways that take you to most central locations. There is also internet access and a games room downstairs if you feel like being sociable.
