Crazy House

Posted by MillaKontkanen 20 August 2007

Crazy House, also known as Hang Nga Guesthouse, is an incredible fairy tale building that is all about irregular shapes and creativity.

The building looks like it was carved into a huge tree trunk. You will see a huge giraffe and other animal statues around the place. Every single room is unique and has its own theme. You don't need to stay in the guesthouse to visit it. For a small fee, you can wander in the vacant rooms and find out more about this project that is still in progress.

The architect Hang Nga, a daughter of a former president, rivals Gaudi in creativity.

The world famous Easy Riders

Posted by Coolkenny 20 August 2007

These dudes are amazing, without doubt my highlight of SE Asia. The Easy Riders are freelance Vietnamese motorbike guides. For $50 a day, you jump on the back, rucksack tied on with bungees and hit the open road.

I did a four-day trip through the central highlands along the Ho Chi Min Trail. The scenery and nature are spectacular but the real gems are the guides, they open doors to the real Vietnam. I learnt so much and got up close and personal with the locals - an unforgettable trip.

Just turn up in Dalat and within a few minutes one of the Easy Riders will have probably found you.

Easy Riders

Posted by Natmandu 30 December 2005

Chances are, if you take a bus to Dalat, they'll be waiting for you when you get off. These guys, recommended in Lonely Planet amongst other places, are English-speaking tour guides with their own motorbikes, who will take you on a day tour of Dalat, or if you're feeling more adventurous, up the Ho Chi Minh Trail through the Central Highlands, to Hoi An or further afield.

Real professionals who really know their stuff. They can show you a side of Vietnam you might not be able to see otherwise.

Try to find the genuine Easy Riders, as there are many impersonators.
