The Ashmolean has the Alfred Jewel, Guy Fawkes' lantern and has always had a good collection of ancient near eastern and Egyptian stuff on display.

Chinese, Japanese, Indian and Islamic galleries are all being redeveloped too.

The new building is a triumph. The museum was always perfectly good; it's now absolutely wonderful and worth a long trip on its own.
