This is the brewery-tap of the excellent 't Ij brewery. Spit & sawdust would probably be a step up for the place, but the beers brewed on the premises make it well worth a visit. I particularly recommend trying the Columbus and the Struis, both of which score 5/5 on my personal beer scale. Unfortunately opening hours are restricted - it's only open Wednesday to Sunday, 1500-2000.

This place is an Amsterdam 'must do.' On a warm day there is no better place to take a sip and chill. The lack of seating adds to the atmosphere with people having to spread out around the canal. I spent two gloriously sunny afternoons here sampling the different beers while sitting near the canal in a great atmosphere. My personal favourite was Zatte but they all tasted good and be warned - they are pretty strong. To add to my enjoyment on one afternoon an old American cadillac arrived and people started clapping and cheering. The three guys from the car then began to play an inpromptu concert using the car as a stage. A great place with a great atmosphere that will leave unforgettable memories. It's open every day from 15 to 20hrs.
