I stayed in a city centre apartment near the Great Synagogue for EUR 70/day. The property manager was very nice a they all speak very good English

I highly recommend staying in an apartment in Budapest also. I stayed with a company called www.budarentals.com and their apartments are stunning and great value for money much better than a hotel. Apartments from €60 per day exceptional value for money. Stayed in the Andrassay Budapest Apartment with www.budarentals.com and I concur with comments on them, the apartment was lovely and I had a very romantic time with my husband in lovely old classical apartment. One thing though - they did not have a hairdryer so make sure you request it, very friendly staff who brought one over though.
