It is a waste of money to use a car in Dublin. With the Dart local rail, DublinBus and the Luas trams it is one of the best served I know (far superior to Toronto) and more user-friendly than London.
Take a seven day pass for 20 euro and hie hither, plus yon with great ease. And enjoy the pubs - many have excellent and well priced food, but you'll have to find them yourselves. I'm not telling you mine.
you can get bus tickets at the airport.
Are you serious??!! Good public transport system and good value food? This can't be the same Dublin surely? Dublin's a great place sure, but it's in constant gridlock and the restaurants are a rip off!
I agree with Doriandermo: Dublin is a great place but public transport is awful and expensive. My advice is to tour the city centre on foot, as it is quite small and accessible. Restaurants are very expensive, high prices don't always mean high quality. My advice: inspect the menu and avoid 'complicated' food, excessive use of garlic and misspelling (e.g. 'desert of the day').Send your feedback or queries to been.there@guardian.co.uk
