Avoid this place like the plague. Claimed on the phone they catered for vegans, on arrival one dish on the main menu was vegan, so they said, but when it arrived it smelt strongly of Guinness. They confirmed this and whilst I pointed out Guinness was not even a vegetarian product (due to its isinglass fining) they just shrugged. Also had no vegan desserts and no knowledge of whether wine was either vegetarian or vegan. This is NOT a true vegetarian restaurant, rather a place for meat-eaters who want a taste of 'meat-less' meals.

I feel I have to balance the very negative experience by the original poster of this restaurant, by saying that I went to Greens last year and the restaurant was given a big thums up by my partner who is a strict vegetarian (ie no meat products whatsoever even as addititives in food). Greens is a vegetarian restaurant and I'm not sure it advertises itself as vegan and last time I went there there you were allowed to take your own wine anyway. So unless things have changed from then, the negative view of the place is rather harsh. Also I live in the area and regularly walk past Greens - it's always busy so I'm sure it has a loyal vegetarian clientele.
Agreed - seems a bit much to describe the place as "NOT a true vegetarian restaurant" basically because they used some Guinness in a sauce!Send your feedback or queries to been.there@guardian.co.uk
