I've been to Krakow twice now and used these guys both times. Staying in an apartment if there's a group of you is definitely the way to go. Both apartments were less than 5 mins walk from the main square and though basic, were very clean and had everything you might need including a washing machine, ironing board etc.
The website is a bit basic, but don't let that put you off. The staff are very friendly, speak excellent English, and can also help with organising trips to Auchwitz and the Salt Mines if you want a chauffered trip (warning - the price is a lot higher than the public tours, but you're paying for a personalised service).
They also pick you up from the airport (5 euros per car) and take you to the apartment which takes all the stress out of getting to your accomodation. They also provided us with maps etc.
I've been very happy with them both times - give them a go!
I have also stayed with Sodispar on two occasions and was very happy both times. They upgraded me one time and the second time rented me a very affordable room in the city centre. The staff were excellent and gave me the choice of paying in pounds, euros or zloty. I can only agree with the enthusiastic comments of starlightmotel.Send your feedback or queries to been.there@guardian.co.uk
