The Tiger Temple is a Buddhist temple about 38km from Kanchanaburi. The monks look after numerous animals, among them several tame tigers that walk around freely once a day and can be petted by tourists.

The tiger temple is nothing more than a money making operation by some highly dubious monks... if it is a temple to anything it is a temple to animal mismanagement. There are several wildlife organisations trying to do something about this place, even the local authorities have agreed it should be closed but can't do anything as there is nowhere to move the tigers to. It would appear that they are engaged in the breeding and selling of cubs... to who knows where. Supporting this establishment is supporting all that's worst in animal welfare in Thailand.

With regards to the notorious Tiger Temple in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, following complaints from tourists and volunteers about tigers being mistreated there, Care for the Wild International (CWI) undertook an intensive two-year investigation. The CWI report reveals evidence of illegal wildlife trade, animal cruelty, false conservation claims and visitor safety risks at the Temple.

The Tiger Temple is an utter scam and offers no benefit to conservation. There are so many better attractions to visit in Thailand, please don't waste your time visiting this abusive place. As well as the above links, more info can be found at www.tigertempletruths.org
