    Wine tourism in Spain

Posted by Masmad 10 March 2008

Many people know Spain as a tourist destination.
Many people know Spanish wines. But nearly nobody enjoys wine tourism in Spain.

There are lots of wine regions and marvellous wineries to visit. The areas where wineries are located usually offer excellent food and at budget prices. The offer is enormous.

I suggest to have a look at www.turismodevino.com or www.winetourismspain.com

There is an excellent travel company based in Madrid, Spain - www.cellartours.com, who offer customised wine tours of all the popular wine regions of Spain, including La Rioja, Riberia Del Duero, Penedes and Priorat.

Galicia, in the northwest of Spain, is also a good wine tourist destination. There's a type of white wines with designation of origin named D. O. Rías Baixas. These are good white wines, considered to be among the best in the world.

I would aslo agree with Galciai being a great palce to visit some Wine producers.
As an update on mofi's posting I would suggest visiting the Ribeira Sacrá region as they are now well known for producing good reds and whites. betting even the Rias Baixas at their own game and using the same grapes. For more information see: www.ribeirasacra.org
