    Ras Amba Hotel

We stayed here and found it a great choice. The rooms are basic but clean and the staff were very helpful. Also, if you have the Lonely Planet for Ethopia and Eritrea 2006, the phone number is wrong!

I've never complained before about a hotel - but this experience was so bad I felt the need to do so. To start the hotel is $70 USD per night and claims to offer free wireless, and cable TV. Nothing about this place is nice, let alone luxury. The rooms are small, no safe, the closet didn't work, the water only lukewarm, and the toilet leaks. The TV had only two channels, the internet worked only about two hours of our two day stay (with a rule that you can't download any files or they shut you off). The manager made no effort to improve our stay, was unfriendly, and mischaraterized what the hotel offered when we checked in. With that said, his staff were very friendly and helpful.
