I have just come back from Marrakech where my boyfrend and I stayed at Riad dar Najat which was great. An authentic house with three floors and a fabulous roof terrace. Our bedroom was decorated with local artwork. It took us a few days to take everything in - a delight to anyone who has an interest in other cultures. The roof terrace was a perfect place to relax in the morning sun while having breakfast or pre-dinner drinks (the rose is the best ) while listening to cool jazz or Buddah Bar type music. Moo Moo (Mustafa) was always there when we needed anything and Siad the local celebrity who has recently worked alongside Tom Hanks is also a bit of eye candy for the ladies. We had a fabulous time in Marrakech, certainly helped by choosing this fab riad.
My only other suggestion would be, is to take some warm clothes as it is very cold at night once the sun has gone down.

My partner Nikki & I stayed four nights in late November. We had a great break, enjoyed the chaos of Marrakech immensly and more so thanks to Olivier and his team at Riad Dar Najat. If you book make sure you take up the offer of the transfer from the airport - while its only five minutes from the main market square you wouldn't want to find it on your own: with a taxi you'll arrive, as we did, exhillarated from the taxi ride and happy to find the sanctuary.

The Riad is traditional Moroccan in style, friendly and very relaxing. Waking up in Marrakech hearing the bird song is lovely. After getting up you go to the roof terrace for the inclusive breakfast, served by the resident local staff who are always pleased to help.

We found a real plus-point to be one of th services offered by the staff - they will walk you to the restaurant/hammam and make sure you dont get lost and even give you their number if you get lost on your way back. It really is only five or six minutes walk to the centre of everything and the souks.

Lastly, the Riad's most valuable asset is its owner, Olivier, he made our stay so much better than those of people staying in perhaps 'more expensive' western hotels. He speaks very good English/French and made excellent recommendations for restaurants and hammams and activities. Nothing is too much trouble for him. In fact we did have a problem with a hammam we had foolishly sourced ourselves - he recommended the action we should take , made many phone calls and in the end we had an apology from the hammam and a full refund with some compensation.

We were quite surprised by how cold Marrakech was in the evenings - coats were needed and our room had a radiator that worked. The only thing stopping me giving the Riad and 'excellent' report was the bed, it was a bit hard for our liking. It wouldn't stop me booking again!

Totally agree!

This was our first trip to Marrakech and I could not have picked a better place to stay. Even before we arrived, Oliver made me feel welcome with his emails -organising our day trips and arranging to pick us up from the airport.
I travelled with my husband and two daughters (21 and 13) and we had the time of our lives. Nothing was too much for Oliver and his FANTASTIC team of staff. They all have a great sense of humour and made us laugh so much. One day I fancied chips so Said (famous film star -been in Gladiator!!) went to buy potatoes just for me! My clothes were washed and ironed as well!
The food is delicious -you must try their cous cous. Also had a great chicken tagine -really nice to eat on the roof terrace after a very busy day.

The rooms were like something out of Arabian nights. We stayed in Weida and the girls in leila room -both lovely and clean. The air con is also amazing and very cold.
All rooms are cleaned each day with fresh bedding and towels. Breakfast is served whenever you wake up (1pm in the case of my teenage daughter) on the roof terrace.

I highly recomend a trip to the Atlas Mountains -we spent a day at a Berber market and a Berber family home -what an amazing experience that was. Followed by a camel ride and a trip to the Ourika Valley. Oliver will organise this for you -our driver/ guide (Abdoul) is so nice -spoke good English and a very safe driver. We also had a lovely day with Oliver and his family at Essaouira (much cooler and less hassle to buy).

Marrakech is a different world. People so friendly -donkeys and bikes everywhere -so many beautiful places to see. We are intending to return next year but in April time as August was so hot. It was 48 degrees when we were there and it hit 51 the week before.

Dar Najat was everything we expected of a riad and more. The passionate owner Oliver and his relaxed, friendly staff really made our long weekend stay very special. All arrangements were 'spot on', from our courtesy airport pick up, room, meals, excursions and recommendations on dining, site seeing etc were all met with a friendly smile and sound advice. The décor, ambience and presentation of Dar Najat is excellent, really giving us the feel that we were staying somewhere exotic but at the same time relaxing and cool. Some of the time we just stayed in as the roof terrace and spa pool were all we needed, we ate in twice because the food was simply excellent, citrus chicken tagine mmm!! Complimentary mint tea, water and guides were a valued bonus. So if you're looking for a laid back, uber cool Riad to really make your trip to Marrakech memorable then book Dar Najat, you won't be disappointed - we certainly weren't.

This was my second stay at Dar Najat, and it was so nice to be welcomed back. The hospitality at this riad is second to none and it really feels like a home from home.

I have been to Marrakech many times in the last 20 years, and this is by far the most authentic and relaxing place I have stayed at.

I cannot recommend it highly enough.
