    Colares Velho Restaurant

Posted by Sintra 29 July 2008

Situated in Colares Velho, overlooking the church square and bandstand is a beautifully restored 18th century grocery store converted into a restaurant and tea room (Salão de chá).

A great place for a romantic dinner. We had a wonderful meal, the staff were so friendly and with Fredo playing the guitar, what more could you ask for?

We went to visit Sintra and someone recommended a small restaurant nearby. So, we went to a small village, Colares, and to a restaurant near a beautiful XVI century Church. The place is a refurbishment of a 200 year old grocery store and it´s fabulous. The food is fantastic, excellent service and an amazing choice of wines! The desserts are unique!
Although we were staying in Lisbon, we just had to go back and try a few more dishes and it really was worth the effort!
Congratulations! Definitely the best meals we had in Portugal!!!
