    St Georges Hall

Posted by roboo 5 October 2005

Has been called the greatest neo-classical building in the world. It is certainly impressive and is the heart of the newly formed 'cultural quarter' in Liverpool. Liverpool Walker Art Gallery and Musuem are only a five-minute walk away on the impressive William Brown Street

Opposite Liverpool Lime Street Station and the Empire Theatre

The hidden jewel in the hall is the small concert room upstairs at the north end of the hall, a semi-circular concert room with seating for 250 that has been wonderfully restored. Try to get yourself to a concert there - they can usually be booked through the Philharmonic box office.

Get yourself on a tour, and learn why the place is half concert hall and half Crown Court.
As mentioned before the small concert hall/theatre is terrific, and on the few occasions when the Minton floor is uncovered, get along to see it.
This must be the finest neo-classical building in the country.
