    Pimientos de Padron

    Posted by almac47 7 October 2005

Small lightly fried very mild green chillies. They taste great with a small glass of beer. A plate of 20-30 lightly fried mild green chillies, all seemingly harmless until you eat the rogue chilli! Uncomfortably hot and a source of great amusement for your companions.

Right - and an excellent place to try them (and lots of other tapas) is Porto Marín in Plaza de Lavapies, just across the road from the new theatre and the Metro station. Noisy, scruffy, and good.

The best place to eat Pimietos de Padron is in Padron, Galicia. (North West Spain)
This is where they are grown and where the product has just won official status of protection given by the EU.
