This 'climb' is good fun but massively overpriced. Prices start at $165 and you'll find yourself signing your life away on insurance waiver forms, donning silly blue jumpsuits, participating in safety drills and eventually climbing up, chained to the side lest you fall off! It has to be said that the 'climb' (more of a gentle stroll) comes as bit of an anticlimax. The view from the top is amazing, but a lot of places in Sydney offer fabulous views for free!
If you're a bit of a cheapskate, you can climb one of the pylons for about $8. It's not quite the same as clambering over the arch, but quicker, cheaper, you can take your own camera, and there's a documentary they make all the schoolkids watch. Walk up onto the pedestrian footbridge which goes across The Bridge from Cumberland St. in the Rocks, near the corner of Argyle St. The pylon on the city end, Harbour Bridge side, is the one you can walk to the top of.Send your feedback or queries to been.there@guardian.co.uk
