    The Iron Duke

    Posted by jonco67 7 November 2005

Want a pub filled with chilled out thirtysomethings, with trendy black-clad staff, where more time has been spent describing the food than preparing it and has a wide range of overpriced standard beer? Then don't go to the Iron Duke. Cheap beer, Racing Post-mad landlord, lock-ins, heavy drinkers, lasagne and chips, pool tables, fruit machines, a pint and a fight two pound fifty.
    Not your standard Brighton pub.

    Updates
The Iron Duke changed hands in March 2006. No more Racing Post, No more fights. Having said that, you can still get a pint of bitter for two pounds fifty, although lager is now more expensive. The pub has no more need for lock-ins being licensed until late. Food is now served Saturday and Sunday only by the legendary (and somewhat eccentric) chef Frank.

It's still a Brighton institution, and still full of characters.
