    Villa Dinari

Posted by valpaparazzi 7 January 2013

I've visited Marrakech many times and always stayed in the Medina. As much as I love it, on my last visit I wanted somewhere away from 'Medina madness'.
I ended up at Villa Dinari, and realised just how different life in Marrakech can be, even as a tourist. All the usual bonuses were there - lovely gardens, excellent food, delightful hosts, but the main blessing was that Abdellatif, who owns Villa Dinari with his English wife, Heather, is a professional guide - a very professional one! He took me on a morning's wander around the souk and opened my eyes to so many places that I'd just walked past at other times. He was equally entertaining with his chats over a glass of excellent Moroccan wine at the villa.
I'm working up to one of his trips into the desert to discover the ancient kasbahs and ksars, fortified villages.
