This iron footbridge over the river, built in 1869, is a major part of everyday life in Frankfurt and enables you to view the city and river away from the traffic and appreciate that there are some pleasant stretches of embankment to walk along. It crosses from Mainkai near the cathedral to the Sachsenhausen district on the south bank.
