If someone starts crowding your personal space when you're looking at goods in a Melbourne shop, beware. As you look nervously at them and start edging away, their partner will be unseen behind you, picking your pocket or taking your purse from your shopping bag.
Also, give the beggars in the downtown area a big swerve - one displays fake (self-inflicted) injuries to his back and has a very nasty mouth on him when you decline to contribute to his personal welfare fund.
