A working farm on the Yarra River in inner-city Collingwood. A beautiful space where you and your kids can get really close to nature and learn things in a friendly educational environment. Great cafe and weekend market, great way for kids to get their hands dirty.
Right on the river in Collingwood.
I agree with Trappedinasuit. This is really a very nice place. Like another world in the middle of the city. The old convent next door is in the process of being turned into a shopping and arts precinct as well. Residents fought hard to keep it low key and diverse (as opposed to apartments and car parks for rich city workers), and so far it's turned out pretty well. The markets on the second Saturday of every month are fantastic, although the produce is pretty pricey, and it takes a really really long time to get a coffee because of the crowds combined with the laid-back approach of the stall holders. All part of the fun though: highly recommended and kids absolutely love it there.Send your feedback or queries to been.there@guardian.co.uk

Misselke's description does not quite do justice to this wonderful farm looking across the beautiful Yarra River to the bushland of Yarra Bend Park right next door to the Kings College-esque old Abbotsford Convent.
