The summit of the railway shows you the city in all its glory - from the beautifully crafted government buildings, hidden churches, right the way along the river and even into the slightly more “suspect” areas of the city. Buy an ice cream at the top and enjoy the view.

We found the funicular very pricey for what was a short trip even in January. It was about £7 on the way up and £6 on the way down. If you want to get up to the Castle district and don't fancy climbing up steps just get the 'varbusz' from Moskva Ter- if you have a 'turistajegy' (a travelcard) then you get on it for free.Send your feedback or queries to been.there@guardian.co.uk
