In the summer, it is neither tranquil nor idyllic. It teems with low budget, boorish Germans whom the locals do not appreciate. The south coast resorts in particular are like a string of Blackpools.

I once read a description of Balaton as "Europe's biggest puddle" and it's fairly apt.

BTW, are there any lakes other than "inland" ones?
