Szentendre is an idyllic small town situated on the Danube River about 19km away from the main city. In Szentendre, you can escape the chaos of the city and experience a timeless, laid-back old town that has hardly been affected by the modernity of Budapest.

It's a beautiful place. However, avoid if you are wheelchair-bound, as the cobbles that abound there will make your trip difficult. Friends who went there had trouble getting around. It also hosts an outdoor heritage museum of Hungarian buildings down the ages.
