A visa valid for a stay of one month will cost £15 for UK citizens if bought from the Egyptian embassy in London, and can be bought on arrival at most points of entry into Egypt, including Luxor Airport (where it will cost you £10).
If you plan to stay more than one month, you must get your visa extended at the Passport office, opposite the Meridien hotel. Also, please remember, if you plan on staying longer than 6 weeks, you are no longer allowed to fly by charter airline - you must use a scheduled carrier, which for most people would mean Egyptair.
You can also pay in US$ so take advantage of weak dollar - it was only $15 in US dollars.Send your feedback or queries to been.there@guardian.co.uk
