You will almost certainly be ripped off and/or not taken to where you want to be taken (especially if returning to a decent hotel) by the charmless and unpleasant local drivers.
They are everywhere
My experience was slightly different. I agreed the fares in advance, had the addresses of where I was going and had no problems. Well, one driver leapt out of the taxi and disappeared leaving me in his car with the engine running for 10 minutes. They’re no worse than minicabs in south London, and much faster.
We found the taxis to be really reliable and very inexpensive.
Make sure you know where you are and cross a road if necessary to be in the right direction and ask for an estimate before you get in a taxi and you won't be ripped off. Send your feedback or queries to been.there@guardian.co.uk
