    San Angel

Posted by paulwebster 25 February 2006

A colonial village with cobble stone streets, art markets and Frida Kahlo and Diego Riviera’s house.

Take the metrobus south on Avenue Insurgentes to Miquel de Queveda or a micro bus on Avenue Patriatismo going north to San Angel

On Saturdays you will find "Bazaar Sabado" right behind the Plaza San Jacinto and an art market within the plaza. In the art market, you will find paintings and some sculptures being sold by their creators.
Behind the plaza, in the confines of a building, you will find "artesanias mexicanas", typical Mexican arts and crafts, however these are expensive and cater to upscale locals or tourists with money to spend. There is an outside market behind this building where you can find other kinds of arts and crafts, for cheaper prices, but these prices are still higher than what you can expect in other markets like La Merced.
The reason for this is that San Angel is an upscale neighborhood, home to some of the wealthiest people in the DF.
