See the most densely populated inner-city in Europe. Apartment blocks stand squeezed shoulder to shoulder eight storeys high. Residents from Ethiopia, Nigeria , Bulgaria ,Pakistan , Albania and Poland occupy miserly flats some below ground level. Flora and fauna comprise of pigeons, alley cats, anorexic pergamon trees and plant pots leaning over balcony railings. Take a stroll through the neighbourhood and listen unfettered to every form of industrial noise disallowed by the health and safety act. There is nowhere like it.

Zeus is right about Kypseli "there is no place like it". As a resident for more than twenty years, I can tell you that Kypseli is a colourful place with a lot to offer. It certainly does provide a home to all those nationalities mentioned by Zeus, and they all add their own colour to the area. Moreover, it is within walking distance of the Archeological Museum of Athens as well as one Patission, one of the main shopping streets. Not to mention the huge park and The Panhellenic Sports Centre which offer recreation and sports for all ages as well as many postgrad students who attend the Athens School of Economics. As for entertainment, there is nothing that Kypseli doesn't offer.Send your feedback or queries to been.there@guardian.co.uk
